Dear Andy, just wanted to say a big thank you for the last two gigs at Ripley. I had never heard of Buddy Whittington or Lightnin Willie until my visits to Ripley. Both were fantastic and with Lightnin Willie the music at times was almost hypnotic ............. and what a great harmonica player. Absolutely brilliant.
Also, love the inclusion of videos on the history section of the website. A nice touch .. hope this will be done for each gig in future.

Lightnin Willie and the Poor Boys absolutely blew me away at the weekend!! Best gig I've been to for a long time, from kickin' ass on-stage to singing face to face bare acoustic amongst the audience.
The 44s weren't half bad either - thanks Andy and the team for an outstanding night out.

Hi Andy and all your members.
Many thanks for making Lucy, Tom and I welcome last night. The venue is great, the facilities, sound etc were top notch.
Your audience was appreciative - even allowing for the Lancashire/Yorkshire hostilities Wink
The band were terrific too - shame we couldn't stay until the end, but what we heard was tremendous.

Second time of seeing Ainsley on Saturday, having seen most bands in my 50 years! I rated the saturday night gig as one of the best, guitaring was clear crisp and awesome, who was the drummer? booked to see them in Kendal in April. Some commentator wrote that some one should throw money at this band - with a bit of serious backing, they will be massive. venue was cool too!!

Just a few words to say how much we enjoyed the Aynsley Lister gig last night. A very underrated guitarist, maybe if he was american he would get the exposure Bonamassa gets. Was suprised at how strong his voice was as well. Gonna try and see Aynsley again. Soon. TOP BLOKE.

It was a great night last night at the Hamsters gig.
Things are looking good for next year - I googled Bex Marshall this morning & saw some of her stuff on Youtube & it looks fantastic - remind me at the Kyla gig & I will get a couple of tickets.
I suggest that you recommend that other people do the same & I'm sure that it will be a sell out.

Dear Andy

I am writing on behalf of the Band and Ali and Geoff the PA guys to thank you for Saturday - your hospitality, the meal at the Boars Head and the warmth shown to the band was fantastic.

What a lovely audience and a great venue.

The people who bought tickets from us really loved it too and you will be getting some recruits not least my wife and myself.

We would love to play again and if we are still going in 2011 we would ask if you would consider putting us on again.

Just a short note to say thanks for a tremendous gig by The Stumble. In my view they are right up there amongst the best bands we get – NBZ, Feelgood etc.

I have seen them at Butlins a few times and they are the only band I have ever seen there that has been allowed an encore!

I look forward to their next gig.

Martin Harley in the Blues Room on August 1st was another first class gig. The Blues Room vibe can't be beaten .... it is special both for atmosphere, acoustics and the artist. Martin Harley was a class act.

Unfortunately, there's no way a CD can ever sound that good! It'll have to do though until he returns.

Thanks to everyone involved .... including the audience.

The Mods worked their socks off, top drawer band and great Surprised to hear Rocky Mountain Way among the set list. Extra brownie point for sneaking in a Pink Floyd number, and Stay With Me by the Faces, the first band I got into at the tender age of 11.

A few weeks earlier the Ian Siegal Band were superb, a great 3 piece set-up

Congrats to everyone involved in setting these gigs up

PS: About time I won the raffle, 5 years at least and nowt to show for it

Dear Ripley Blues Club,
We are really looking forward to playing at your venue on the 11th of July and we have one of the finest guitarists in Great Britain, Gary Grainger on lead guitar, who spent nearly 10 years with the Rod Stewart Band co writing songs such as Hot Legs and Im only Joking and many more. He has played with The Who and also in Roger Daltreys Band, and also performed alongside Pete Townsend. at the Albert Hall for the Ronnie Lane Tribute Gig. Outstanding slide player so expect some searing blues as well as classic Who, Small Faces, Cream, Faces, Kinks and Rolling Stones plus some real surprise numbers...what we call our Magic Numbers !!! Please spread the word as this is our first visit, of which we hope will turn into many future gigs. We give 500% and our motto is Maximum Entertainment. Hope to see your faces in the crowd and our Kindest Regards Johnny Warman The Mods Tribute to an Era 1964 - 1970

Just a note to thank you for a great gig on Saturday.
Jean and I thoroughly enjoyed Eddies performance and what a pleasant chap. It always amazes me when watching someone play so many instruments at once as well as singing. Ever since I was a lad who appreciated Larry Adler on the harmonica it has been a pleasure watching players of that instrument. We also thought the gig upstairs was very comfortable and the sound was perfect.

Wow! What a night at Ripley Blues! Thought I'd died & gone to heaven! This show must rank alongside the best there has ever been at Ripley (& there have been many!) Both Guy Tortora & his band and Connie Lush oozed both class and quality throughout. Both were on top form & their expertise & experience shone out from the stage. Where else apart from Ripley Blues would you get a night like that? I now think Ripley can be rated as as a unique & prestigious venue as can be found anywhere in the country. This has been achieved by Andy's astute & imaginative booking policy over the years. So congratulations & thanks to Andy. Now can't wait to check out the next show. Cheers Charlie

It was a brilliant night last week. The Stumble are quite one of the best live bands I have ever seen. Nice to see newcomer Chantal McGregor too. I have just read only 70 people there? From where I was standing (at the back - dancing), the hall looked much more full than that. Anyway, we thought it fantastic.

Just logged onto the site to see how the double-header went last weekend. Lynda and I would have been there but unfortunately were away on business over the weekend. Cant believe only 70 showed up for Bands like that - I read the comments from the guy in Harrogate which were a bit harsh to say the least. What more are you supposed to do than you are doing now to get people through the door to come and see the less well known Bands at Ripley.

My view for what its worth is that the membership has become complacent and have at the same time become very selective to the Bands that are on - they have forgotten that as a club member they should support it as much as they possibly can. Their membership underpins the existence of Ripley Blues and should not leave you personally exposed to the potential financial repercussions of low turn outs like last weekend.

I think they need a rocket up their proverbial to be honest and told how lucky they are to have such a venue available to them in what is to all intents and purposes a rural community

Hi John

Glad you enjoyed the bands on Saturday. As for the seating, we would have loved to have 250 people in the place all standing but with an attendance of about 70 we had to fill it up with chairs and tables or it would have looked pathetic.

I would agree the audience were strangely unenthusiastic bearing in mind the quality entertainment. Pity more didn't choose to stand at the side and make a bit of noise as I did myself.

All the best,

Andy

I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed Nine Below Zero's gig at Cooper's
the other week. It was superb. One of the best live bands I've seen for
years.

I did manage to speak to Dennis briefly afterwards and I told him that the
last time I'd seen them was nearly thirty years ago when they played at my
college! I saw them 2 or 3 times in the late 70s early 80s including one
time when they supported The Who!

Well done, anyway, for all your efforts. I look forward to seeing more
superb blues bands at Ripley Blues in 2008.
